Welcome to the Blog!

Well, here you are, landing on my blog. It is my most sincere hope that you find something here that meets you where you are at and resonates deep in your own soul.

Whether strength or softening, may this space provide your inner spirit with nourishment and comfort to help your life with its divine unfolding.

I came to women’s empowerment in my twenty-fifth year of life, before women’s empowerment was a ‘thing’, certainly before there were influencers and before I could conceive of this as a business. I came to it with both a sense of urgency and of necessity, and met myself at the height of my surrender. I needed to acknowledge that I could no longer be someone who I was not: I could no longer abandon myself for the sake of playing a part that diminished my happiness and sense of self love in the world.

You are worthy of love, even if others don’t see it.

my self love story

We all have a self love story that begins, typically, in shame. We find ourselves deeply wanting, deeply flawed, and we learn self love from its absence. This lacking, this deficit way of thinking that we are never enough, strangely enough, urges us to consider our own identity, and how we may be trying to create a version of ourselves that is simply not who we are.

Trading authenticity for acceptance

I honestly never tried to fit in in places where I didn’t feel a sense of innate belonging. I’ve never tried to manufacture and force belonging - either I felt it, or I didn’t. I never realised that trading my identity as a bohemian, feeler, poet and musician for a pay check and a title would wound me so deeply, but it did. Teaching made me stronger, more determined, and I rose quickly to the top of my profession early on. But by twenty-five, after leaving my role for a year to write a thesis, I returned with fresh eyes to see my entire identity devoured by tech-wired teens who had no real connection - with themselves, with their parents, with one another, with me as their teacher, with life. I was not only disheartened and disenchanted with the state of education and our young people today: I was assaulted by it, and a year later, left to resurrect my faith from the ashes of a former self.

My new purpose was to work with mothers and teens in a way that would protect me from the impossible realities of education: an outdated system of teaching and learning both crumbling from society’s impossible standards and being reshaped by technology and the rise of AI. I wrote a book called Zen La Femme, a tribute to women’s empowerment, and set to work writing novels for teens and poems on self love. With the arrival of my own daughters, I started running community playgroups, and developed programs for both mothers and teens, all connected in the vision of fostering a love of self as the antidote to society’s oppressive march towards fear-based mindlessness, disconnection and control.

but things don’t always go as planned

i headed back into the classroom WITH GRACE AND faith

Trusting to let go of my girls by placing them in the care of the Catholic Education System was not easy, but I did, and shortly afterwards, I too was employed in the feeder Catholic Secondary College to my girl’s school. I was still connected to my children, but not my full purpose. I found myself struggling with burnout yet again, cycling through exhausting and depletion, only to refuel enough to give yet again. All teachers know this cycle. It is utterly unsustainable. Despite the lovely people I worked with, the job was just too much for me. It was still, in essence, a system that was not compatible with my own. After a year back in the classroom, I resigned, and returned in the capacity of a casual teacher. I loved it and I felt a greater sense of self worth. But after a long break and no work once the year started back, what do you know, I went back again as an ongoing classroom teacher. And the same things started happening. The constant battles with the students, the fight to be heard, the loss of self worth and self energy, the dysregulation of the central nervous system (the bells! the classroom noise! the staffroom noise!) and just the administrative ‘stuff’ that endlessly keeps piling up. I started to transition out of the classroom and into the yoga studio and decided to step into the virtual world offering my courses and programs integrating holistic wellbeing, creativity and education. And here we are! Welcome to my offerings!
